International Day of Non-Violence

October 2, 2024

Today, on October 2nd, International Day of Non-Violence, we want to emphasize the importance of our new project “Building Social Bonds.” This day, inspired by the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, reminds us of the power of dialogue and tolerance in countering conflict and violence.

Our project, supported by values such as freedom, tolerance, and respect for human rights, responds to contemporary challenges such as the weakening of social ties and the rise of intercultural tensions. In response to these challenges, “Building Social Bonds” will focus on adapting proven methods of working with youth, originally developed in Ireland, to the needs and contexts of European youth.

Thanks to our efforts, professionals working with youth will gain new skills and tools that will enable more effective building of social engagement and integration. The project promotes the creation of intercultural bridges and active citizenship, becoming a foundation for a more cohesive yet diverse European society.

Today, we particularly emphasize the importance of promoting dialogue and understanding among young people to combat racism, intolerance, and inequality. Our actions align with horizontal and sectoral goals, such as improving the quality of education and fostering civic engagement.

On this important day, we invite everyone to reflect on how each of us can contribute to building a society free from violence and full of respect for diversity. Together, we can create a future where everyone feels safe and is respected.
